WordPress VS WordPress
So let`s see what is blogging really about? Let me tell you first that it could be a very lucrative business, and also it is pretty easy to set up a blog and to run it. Just imagine if you can get paid to write about something that is of your interest, and you can do that whenever you want or anytime you want. You can be flexible and you can run your blog at your own pace, from any place, all over the globe, even if you are on your vacation. However, your blogging will not get on the way of your vacation
In this article, I would like to talk about how to start a blog and how to choose the right platform. And of course, it will be on a shoestring budget. I hope you are interested in. Just read on, please.
The first thing you need is to get a blog. There are a few options. Personally, I would suggest you use WordPress since it has easy CMS (Content Management System). If you decide to use WordPress there are two options. You can go and use WordPress.com or WordPress.org.
The main difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is who’s actually hosting your website.
With WordPress.org, YOU host your own blog or website. WordPress.org is where you’ll find the free WordPress software that you can download and install on your own web server.
WordPress.com, on the other hand, takes care of all of the hostings for you. You don’t have to download software, pay for hosting, or manage a web server.
Pros and Cons of WordPress.com vs WordPress.org
Both WordPress.org and WordPress.com have some pros and cons, depending on what you need. If you are not in a position to pay for your own hosting server, you will probably go for WordPress.com. It is free and easy to install and still, you have a lot of possibilities on how to customize your site or blog.
However, there are also cons of using WordPress.com. First of all your domain will automatically include WordPress.com. The other problem is you cannot upload some custom themes, plugins or to modify PHP code in your website
Anyway, this day, hosting companies like A2 Hosting are as easy to start with as WordPress.org, cheaper and with more freedom.
The cost of using WordPress.com vs WordPress.org
WordPress.com will let you install website entirely for free, still, there are some downsides here:
- Your site will be under the subdomain
- WordPress.com place its own ads that you cannot remove from the site
- You get limited disk space of 3GB
- You will have only limited disk space of 3GB
- You can’t monetize your blog or website
- The worst thing you cannot monetize your website or blog
- You can’t install plugins or any themes that aren’t available on the platform by default
- You won`t be allowed to install plugins or themes that are not available on this platform by default
On the other hand, With WordPress.org, you can start a website that is functional and it won`t cost you a fortune.
At $3.92 per month for hosting and $12-$15 per year for a domain, you can start building your professional website or blog. In order to do that you have to choose a web host first. My suggestion would be to go and visit A2 Hosting. Great Company with tons of options for your WordPress website or blog. Here is what they offer
Start at $3.92 per month
Also this way you have the complete freedom over your website, and you can do what you want to do with the site. This way you are the owner of the website. You possess it. If anything happens to your server you can always download your website and transfer it to the other server. This is something that you can`t do if you use WordPress.com. This way you actually don`t own the website. Go here and get started with A2 Hosting and WordPress.org
